The new interdisciplinary series Vocations is founded which brings together poets, musicians, composers and performance artists.

Poesiefestival Berlin takes place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reaching a global audience for the first time.

For its 25th anniversary, a new name highlighting the institution’s focus: Haus für Poesie.

The translation project Versschmuggel kicks off with 51 poets from Germany and South Asian countries. Since then, these annual translation workshops have already resulted in 12 anthologies published by Das Wunderhorn.

As part of the 20th-anniversary celebration of literaturWERKstatt Berlin at Kulturbrauerei, the first Poetry Market takes place, which from then on becomes an annual part of Poesiefestival's program. Around 40 publishers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland participate each year.

Poetry Rain at Lustgarten Berlin: 100,000 bookmarks with poems fall from the sky.

Poets’ Corner kicks off and from then on takes place as pre-program of Poesiefestival Berlin in various neighborhoods across the city.

The writing workshop for young poets, "open poems," launches.

Lyrikline wins the Grimme Online Award.

literaturWERKstatt Berlin moves into a building in the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg.

Zebra Poetry Film Festival launches.

The first Poesiefestival Berlin takes place, then still at Potsdamer Platz, featuring readings by, among others, Adonis, Inger Christensen, Volker Braun, and Gerhard Rühm.

At the same time, UNESCO establishes World Poetry Day, which has since been celebrated every year on March 21.

The former director of Haus für Poesie, Thomas Wohlfahrt, launches Literature Express Europe, in which 103 authors from 43 countries traveled by train on a reading and working journey. This initiative led to the Berlin Poetry Festival with "Weltklang – Night of Poetry", which has been held every year since.
