A Work of Poetry Honored for the First Time —
International Literature Award 2025 goes to Kim Hyesoon, Sool Park, and Uljana Wolf
On the evening of July 17, the International Literature Award was presented at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, and for the first time a work of poetry was honored. We are overjoyed and warmly congratulate the South Korean poet Kim Hyesoon as well as her two translators, Sool Park and Uljana Wolf.
Already in 2023, Kim Hyesoon delivered the Berlin Poetry Lecture Tongueless Mother Tongue at the Poesiefestival, which was published by Wallstein Verlag. At that time, commissioned by Haus für Poesie, Uljana Wolf and Sool Park translated poems by Kim Hyesoon from her collection Autobiography of Death, originally published in 2016, which has recently been released by S. Fischer Verlag and whose book launch we celebrated this June as part of this year’s Poesiefestival.
