Collective Chain Poem
in honor of Mascha Kaleko
Mein schönstes Gedicht?
Ich schrieb es nicht.
Aus tiefsten Tiefen stieg es.
Ich schwieg es.
In 2025, it will be the 50th anniversary of Mascha Kaléko’s death. She was a Jewish poet associated with the New Objectivity movement, whose works were banned by the National Socialists. Her poems, balancing between everyday observations and existential questions, are experiencing a renaissance today.
In her honor, we are collecting poems on the theme "Mein schönstes Gedicht" (my most beautiful poem)! From July 1 to 21, poets and festival visitors will collaboratively write a chain poem exploring the versatility of beauty in poetry – from every perspective, in every language.
Here is the link to the open doc for the chain poem. Alternatively, poems can be sent to mitmachen@haus-fuer-poesie.org or via Instagram to @_lyriklab. From all submissions, our team will create a collective poem collage for Poesiefestival Berlin.
