Ann Cotten

Ann Cotten is a writer, translator, and theory enthusiast whose playful engagement with linguistic gendering methods (Phettberg-style de-gendering, “Polish gendering”) has, in media perception, overshadowed the serious content of her many works. Since 2021, Cotten has been working on a materialist poetics as a PhD project at Freie Universität Berlin, and since 2023 she has been co-editing the annually published Vienna-based journal “Triëdere” for literary essayism. Cotten’s work has received numerous awards, most recently the Rome Prize of Villa Massimo.
