Mahtab Yaghma

Mahtab Yaghma is an Iranian poet, songwriter, and women’s rights activist, born in Neyshabur and currently living in Berlin. She published two poetry collections in Iran before turning primarily to social media from 2017 onward to share her work due to state censorship. After emigrating to Germany in 2024, she has continued her literary work and activism in exile, particularly through her support of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement. Her poetry is inspired by classical Persian literature and combines these traditions with contemporary themes such as self-determination and human rights. For Mahtab Yaghma, writing is an act of resistance.
