Meral Şimşek

Meral Şimşek is a Kurdish writer and poet from Turkey, now living in exile in Germany since 2022 due to legal pressures related to her work and its recognition. Her poems and stories often focus on women’s lives and the realities of Kurdistan. Her writing has been translated into German, English, and French, reaching an international readership. Her recent books include “Kavimler Toplamı Yokluk” (2023) and “Feigenflecken” (2023). Among numerous awards, Şimşek received the Theodor Kramer Prize for Exile and Resistance (2022) and the LAF Short Story Award in Berlin (2024).
