For two decades, Edition Rugerup has been publishing books that build bridges between linguistic and cultural spheres. What began on a farm in the southern Swedish municipality of Hörby and is now based in Berlin has evolved into one of the most distinguished independent publishers of contemporary international poetry.

Founded by Margitt Lehbert, Edition Rugerup has introduced a wealth of international voices to German-language literature over the past two decades.

A particular focus of its publishing program is Nordic literature, featuring authors from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland. In addition, the press publishes writers from the Netherlands, Ireland, Great Britain, and Australia.

Edition Rugerup’s books have brought the work of poets such as Olav H. Hauge, Ida Gerhardt, Øyvind Rimbereid, Judith Herzberg, Les Murray, and Gerard Manley Hopkins to German-speaking readers, in some cases for the very first time. At the same time, the press has provided a publishing home for numerous German-language authors, including Ulrich Zieger, Sabine Lange, Guy Helminger, Christine Koschel, and Ulrich Schacht.

To mark the publisher’s 20th anniversary, authors, translators, and long-standing companions of the press will come together to celebrate the history of Edition Rugerup and to offer insights into both past and future projects.
