Please not that the event is designed for a Spanish- or German speaking audience.

As part of this conversation, the author, literary translator, and literary curator Timo Berger meets Raquel Lanseros, one of the most important lyrical voices in contemporary Spanish-language literature. Together, they will reflect on central themes and motifs in Raquel Lanseros’s poetic work, trace the development of her poetry, and offer insights into her way of thinking as a poet.

The conversation offers an opportunity to discover the work of a poet who, in her writing, masterfully weaves together personal experience, social observation, and linguistic precision.

Raquel Lanseros (Jerez de la Frontera, 1973) is a poet, translator, literary scholar, and professor. Around 200 literary critics have named her the most outstanding Spanish-language poet of her generation (born after 1970). Her work has received numerous awards, including the Premio Internacional de Poesía Generación del 27, the Premio de la Crítica Española, and the Premio de la Crítica Andaluza. Her poems, collected for example in Sin ley de gravedad, have been published in more than ten countries.

In addition to her own literary work, Lanseros is also active as a translator, working on authors such as Sylvia Plath, Edgar Allan Poe, and Margaret Atwood. She has contributed to renowned anthologies such as Poesía soy yo and wrote the script for the literary television series Un país para leerlo (RTVE). She currently collaborates with Spain’s public radio broadcaster RNE. Lanseros holds a PhD in language and literature didactics and regularly publishes on literary scholarship.
