See here – Poetry in Braille
Book presentation
On the occasion of International Museum Day, and as a poetic intervention in the exhibition, editor Marco Sagurna will present, together with the poets Clara Cosima Wolff and Salean A. Maiwald, the newly published anthology Seht her – Poesie in Braille ("See here - Poetry in Braille", Kulturmaschinen Verlag 2026) at PalaisPopulaire.
Under the title Seeing Words, Reading Images, works from the Written Art Collection – one of the most significant private collections of text-based art – are currently on view at PalaisPopulaire. The exhibited works, including gestural abstract painting after 1945, contemporary calligraphy, and text-based conceptual and media art, foreground the relationship between writing and image, as well as the significance of text-based art as a narrative form and as a medium of global communication. Artists represented include Herta Müller, Etel Adnan, Shirin Neshat, and William Kentridge.
On the occasion of International Museum Day, and as a poetic intervention in the exhibition, editor Marco Sagurna will present, together with poets Clara Cosima Wolff and Salean A. Maiwald, the newly published anthology Seht her – Poesie in Braille ("See here - Poetry in Braille", Kulturmaschinen Verlag 2026) at PalaisPopulaire. The volume brings together poems in both print and Braille. The poems by the 25 featured blind and sighted poets – including Ilma Rakusa, Volker Sielaff, and Rüdiger Stüwe – are not only readable through touch; they also engage thematically with seeing and hearing, with the visible and the invisible. They invite readers onto the “silent island of Braille” (Maiwald), into “the void between two dots” (Sielaff). The anthology was produced in collaboration with Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverband Niedersachsen e. V. and was awarded a publishing grant from the Free State of Bavaria.
In addition to the reading, there will be a Braille workshop for children at 11 a.m., offered by Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverband Niedersachsen e. V., as well as a guided exhibition tour for blind and visually impaired visitors starting at 2 p.m.
